BILD, WELT, and the Axel Springer Academy have obtained classified reports from law enforcement agencies: since the beginning of the year, 1,072 incidents involving 1,955 unidentified drones have been recorded. The drones flew over Bundeswehr facilities, NATO training grounds, and critical infrastructure.
The Russian bulk carrier Lauga attracted particular attention: police spotted seven drones in its vicinity. The vessel had previously been moored in Tartus, Syria, near a Russian base, and later headed to St. Petersburg, to a terminal affiliated with Rosatom.
Matches were also found with the HAV Snapper and HAV Dolphin. Although technically Norwegian, they are serviced at the Pregol shipyard in Kaliningrad, which is affiliated with Russian military structures. It was during their operations that Germany observed “drone swarms” over Kiel Bay, near ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems facilities. The HAV Dolphin crew turned out to be entirely Russian.
